Report: Putin says Russia could design nuke for Kazakhstan
MOSCOW, Nov 8 (PRIME) -- Russia is ready to engineer a nuclear power plant for Kazakhstan with the use of the most innovative technologies, President Vladimir Putin told news daily Kazakhstanskaya Pravda in an interview released on the Kremlin website on Wednesday.
"As far as we know, the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan is considering building a nuclear power plant on their territory. If a decision on fulfillment of the project is made, state corporation Rosatom is ready to elaborate the project with the use of the most cutting edge technologies and the highest environmental requirements and security norms," Putin said.
Energy companies of Russia and Kazakhstan are ready to develop mutually beneficial cooperation, he said. Vast prospects for cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan are emerging in the gas sphere.
"Concerning Kazakhstan, Russia is ready to help in gas supplies to the northern and eastern regions in accordance with a roadmap for gas cooperation signed between Gazprom and the government of Kazakhstan January 18 of this year," Putin said.
Putin said that it was reasonable to consult with Turkmenistan on the issues of Russian gas supplies across Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan.
"They traditionally work on the markets, and their joining the cooperation will be of mutual interest," he said.
The president also said that Russia and Kazakhstan planned to develop cooperation in shipbuilding and goods transportation across the Caspian Sea.
